Leafy Pods - Botanical Aquatic Isopod Culture
 
Leafy Pods is a botanical-centered ecosystem culture built around natural leaf litter, seed pods, and our Aquatic Isopods.
 
This culture uses the same diverse leaf mix as our Leafy Bugs, but instead of scuds, this culture includes Phillips Fish Works captive bred Aquatic Isopods, making it an excellent addition to any natural aquarium.
 
Packed in Two Separate Bags
Each Leafy Pods culture comes with two breather bags, packed separately to keep the Aquatic Isopods safe during shipping and to maintain the quality of the botanical material.
 
Bag 1 of 2 -  Aquatic Isopod Portion
This bag contains:
20 captive bred Aquatic Isopods
3 acorn caps
 
Bag 2 of 2 - Botanical Portion
This bag contains:
A mixed leaf litter blend that may include
live oak • willow oak • red oak • sweetgum • maple • cottonwood • other
2 sweetgum seed pods
The botanical bag is moist but does not contain standing water.
Keeping the leaves damp instead of submerged helps preserve the natural microbes and prevents the material "popping" the bag during shipping.

Different leaf species break down at different speeds and release different tannins and micronutrients.
